An outstanding guard for four years, under Coach Larry Schiner, Mike played on two New Jersey State College Athletic Conference Championship teams (1973-1974) and participated in two NCAA tournaments and one ECAC tournament. Nicknamed the “ICEMAN” because of his excellent foul shooting ability –especially in pressure situations - the talented playmaker established JCS game and career records for assists and tallied 976 career points. During his four years, the Gothics posted a 67-38 record.

Markowski was named to the NJSCAC First Team both in 1975 and 1976. He also earned New Jersey College Division recognition as a first team selection in 1975 and was a second team choice in 1976.

Mike, who was the recipient of a four-year Alumni Athletic Scholarship, exemplified the term student-athlete.
