A “coach on the playing court,” Larry was an outstanding guard during his two years with the Gothics. He scored 562 career points and once held the school record for most assists in a season and career.

In both 1968 and 1969, Larry was awarded with first-team All-Conference honors, and in 1969 he was named to the New Jersey College Division All-State second team. He also received the ECAC scholar-athletic award at Jersey City State the same year.

Larry continued his relationship with the Gothics until 1982, serving as an assistant coach under Hall of Famer Larry Schiner from 1969 until 1976 and under Paul Weinstein from 1976 until 1982. During those years, the Gothics won three conference championships and appeared in four NCAA post-season tournaments – winning the South Atlantic regional in 1979 and the West regional in 1980 advancing Jersey City State to the national quarter-finals in both years. During this period the Gothics also participated in two ECAC post-season tournaments, winning the Division III Metro NY-NJ championship in 1981.
