Richard V. Casey

Rich played four years of varsity baseball serving as captain in both his junior and senior years. He was a first team New Jersey State College Athletic Conference shortstop in 1977, when he batted .365. Casey also hit 343 in 1974 and .300 in 1975 with a career average of .317. 

Casey established five career school records for most games played (80), total at bats (318), runs (74), hits (101) and stolen bases (61). Additionally, he set three single season records for stolen bases, hits and at bats. He is the only player ever to lead Jersey City State in stolen bases for four straight years. Casey was the first Gothic to collect 100 or more career hits. He topped his collegiate career by being selected to participate in the prestigious New Jersey North-South College All-Star Game.

Rich served the Gothics as an assistant coach under his former coach, Larry Babich.
