Alberto spent two years on the mound for the Gothics until he signed a professional baseball contract with the Cleveland Indians in 1975. He played four years (1976-79) in the minor leagues, a year and a half with the Indians, six months with the Philadelphia Phillies and two years with the Houston Astros. He was selected honorable mention All-New Jersey State College Athletic Conference (NJSCAC) in 1974 and 1975. Alberto finished the 1975 season with the fifth best earned run average in NCAA Division III with a 1.00 ERA. In the spring of 1974 and 1975, he had a combined 9-6 record with a 1.40 ERA.  He struck out 123 in 141 innings pitched. In the fall season of 1973 and 1974, he went 5-1 with a 1.56 Era. He had 42 strikeouts in 46 innings of work. Alberto holds school records in lowest ERA for season (1.00) and career (1.40) and strikeouts in a season (103) and career (123). Alberto was an Alumni Athletic Scholarship recipient. He is currently an operations supervisor for DHL Airways.
