Mike, an excellent wide receiver on three great Gothic teams coached by Hall of Famer Jack Stephans, was also a standout returning both punts and kickoffs. During that time, the Gothics posted a 24-4 record and finished 10th in the Lambert Bowl ratings in 1972 and fourth in 1973.

Drennan, together with Hall of Famer Bill Byrne, formed one of the finest pass catching combinations in New Jersey State College Athletic Conference history. He still holds or shares a number of all-time records including most touchdown passes caught in one game (3); most touchdown passes caught in a season (6); longest punt return (75 yards) vs Montclair State, 1972 and Seton Hall 1973; and averaged over 20 yards a reception.

In his three year varsity career, Mike never fumbled the football away once in 28 games. He was selected to the NJSCAC first team in 1972 as a punt return specialist and as a second team wide receiver in 1973.
