Frances enjoyed a successful athletic career at Jersey City State, participating in basketball and swimming for four years. A starting guard and a leading scorer during her four years, Frances held the record for most points in a women’s basketball game with 30 until Monique Hemingway bettered the mark last season. In Swimming, she specialized in the butterfly and freestyle events and set a school record in the 50-yard freestyle when she finished in 28.9 seconds. Frances was named to the Outstanding College Athletes of America in 1973 and 1974. She was captain of the swimming team her senior year and basketball team in her junior and senior years. After graduating from JCSC, Frances was the head swimming coach at Snyder High School (Jersey City) for six years and head girls basketball coach for two seasons. She is in her sixteenth year as the swimming instructor for Jersey City elementary school No. 39 and 40.
