Tom is regarded as perhaps the greatest all-around soccer player in the college’s history. An All-Conference selection for four consecutive years, Tom led the Gothics to four straight winning seasons. The team’s total record during this period was 31-7-2, including a 14-5-1 mark in the conference. Tom’s individual achievements included Tri-State (New Jersey, Penn., and Delaware) first team in 1965 and Jersey City State M.V.P. defense in 1963, M.V.P. offense in 1964 and 1965, and M.V.P. offense and defense in 1966. Tom led the Gothics in scoring for three straight years and led the Conference in 1965. During the 1966-67 season he participated in the East Coast Olympic Tryouts, by invitation. Tom is currently teaching history in Kearny High School, where he formerly served as athletic director and head soccer coach. His 1970-71 coaching record was 32-4-2.
