A standout second baseman for four years, Dan earned First-Team All-NJSCAC honors in 1958, and All-State honors in 1960.  “Every once in a while a fan’s attention is captured by the competitive spirit of an athlete that sets him apart from his fellow performers. You can see it here at the College in Danny Morro,”  it was written in the college newspaper. “He is at once a determined individual and a determined team player.” Dan received the Alumni Association award for his athletic achievements during the 1959-1960 seasons. Dan also participated in basketball for four years and soccer for one year. Dan was co –captain of the soccer team in 1959, and served as assistant men’s basketball coach under Hall of Famer Ollie Gelston in 1960-61 when the Gothics won the Conference championship.
